The U.S. Secretary of Commerce announced that Jamie Goen, Executive Director of Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers and SMEA alum, has been appointed to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC). Goen will fill the Washington seat for the remainder of the term, following the passing of Kenny Down. Goen’s appointment has been met with enthusiasm from the crab fishing community and is seen as a positive step for the future of the industry.
