Cedar River Salmon Stewards Invite Community to View Returning Salmon

As salmon return to the Cedar River this fall, the Cedar River Salmon Stewards are inviting community members to learn more about these iconic fish and the watershed they call home.

The program, co-managed by 2024 SMEA alum Aina Hori, offers salmon viewing opportunities throughout October at locations in Renton. Visitors can discover salmon redds (nests), learn about the Cedar River ecosystem, and explore ways they can help protect and maintain a healthy watershed.

Salmon viewing events will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on select dates in October at:

  • Renton Library
  • Renton Community Center
  • Landsburg Park

Events are scheduled for October 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25.

The Cedar River Salmon Stewards provide an opportunity for people to connect with the river and better understand the importance of salmon and healthy watersheds. We’re proud to see SMEA alumni like Aina Hori applying their interdisciplinary training to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
